Social Affairs

The Department of Social Services of the Regional Office of the Moravian-Silesian Region provides social services in the Region targeted at assisting and supporting those who find themselves in difficult social situations.

The target group for the Moravian-Silesian Region’s social policy is people with disabilities, children, seniors, homeless people and minorities. This wide range of services also includes methodological advice and legal assistance. In addition to these, there are numerous activities that the Department carries out in accordance with special laws in the largest areas. These include, for example, integrating refugees and other foreigners, drug prevention, crime prevention, etc.

The Moravian-Silesian Region has a wide range of organisations, associations and additional civic and professional associations that are active in the field of social services.

The provision of social services is based on the Charter of Fundamental Human Rights and Freedoms and is governed by Act No. 108/2006 Sb., on Social Services, as amended.

An interesting fact: The Moravian-Silesian Region Social Services are used annually by cca. 72,000 clients - 13,500 residential, 25,000 attendees and 33,500 in the field.
