Clusters in the Moravian-Silesian Region

Information about clusters in the Region

The Moravian-Silesian Region has a long-standing tradition in the Czech Republic of strengthening competitiveness in regional industries through clustering. In the MSR and also nationwide, this type of cooperation is based on a sectoral clustering of businesses, universities and research and development institutions. In the Czech Republic such clustering is institutionalised in the form of cluster organisations. These organisations aim to promote the development of various sectors through joint projects in business cooperation, marketing, human resource development, and certainly not in the least research, development and innovation. Developments in recent years have made it clear that the Moravian-Silesian region is suitable for the establishment and development of cluster organisations, notably thanks to its highly developed industry, extensive educational infrastructure and initiatives supporting research and development. It can be stated that Moravian-Silesian region is currently leading nationwide in the localisation of cluster organisations, and the concept of clusters is an irreplaceable pillar in the further development of regional industry and related support for innovation.
