Strategy for Development of the Moravian-Silesian Region in 2009-2020

The Strategy for Development of the Moravian-Silesian Region in 2009-2020 (hereinafter the “Strategy”) has been prepared as a mid-term strategic document to meet conditions provided in Act 248/2000 Coll., on promoting regional development.

The Strategy is a response to the new conditions in the Region compared to 2005. The Moravian-Silesian Region has become a new destination for foreign investors, including even the strongest global companies such as Hyundai and ArcelorMittal. A number of strong local companies are managing to engage successfully in global value chains. The Region is also attracting international companies such as Tieto whose business success comes from utilising experts with excellent skills and qualifications in information technology. Though belatedly, the Region is now finally providing for its connection to the main European corridors via modern transportation infrastructure. Dynamic development of the Region is also reflected in a significant decreased unemployment and improved use of its residents’ human potential.
