Expanding cooperation with the Chinese Jiangsu province

On Friday, 15 September 2017, Governor Ivo Vondrák received a delegation of the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu People’s Congress led by its Deputy Director, Mr. Liu Yongzhong.

After the Governor opened the meeting and described the region, introducing its vision for development, Deputy Governor Jaroslav Kania informed the delegation about the Region’s funding and economic management, and Deputy Governor Jarmila Uvírová presented key points about the region’s agriculture and environment.

The presentation by Deputy Director Liu Yongzhong introducing the Chinese Jiangsu province was followed by discussion, during which the Chinese delegation expressed interest in cooperating in engineering, mechatronics, ICT, the environment, and tourism. Governor Vondrák supported the idea of cooperation in these fields and pointed out that mechatronics in the region are of a global standard.

After the meeting with the Governor, the delegation visited the Krajánek kindergarten to find out about the local preschool education system and see examples of children’s activities.

As China is undergoing demographic changes, the Chinese delegation was interested in the welfare system applied in the region and the Czech Republic. Vice Governor Lukáš Curylo informed the delegation about these issues. Subsequent discussion showed that China is beginning to address similar problems to those faced by the Czech Republic – an ageing population, and the discussion was concluded with interesting suggestions for mutual visits by welfare experts presented by the Chinese partner.
