New Mošnov Airport to Milan Air Route

The European airline Ryanair has announced the launch of a new route from Leoš Janáček Airport Ostrava.

There will be two flights weekly from Mošnov to Bergamo Airport from 30 October. From the same date, Ryanair will also increase the number of flights from Ostrava to London from three to four a week.

“We are pleased that our company, Ryanair, is opening a new route from Ostrava to Milan and extending the number of flights to London from October, thus increasing the number of Ryanair passengers from Ostrava Airport to 90,000 annually. The new route is ideal for both business customers and tourists and I am glad that we will continue to develop air routes and contribute to increasing employment in Ostrava,” said Denis Barabas, Ryanair Sales and Marketing Director in Ostrava.

Ryanair celebrated the new flight from Ostrava to Milan by selling tickets from Ostrava to Milan (for November) from CZK 549. Interested customers could book their tickets until midnight of 11 June.

The fact that the regular flight portfolio will expand to include another attractive destination is good news. Bergamo Airport is an important transport hub for low-cost airlines and is widely used for travelling to the Alps, for instance. The new route will certainly please not only tourists but also business customers, and help increase the accessibility of our region,” said Miroslav Novák, Governor of the Moravian-Silesian Region.

The new route from Ostrava is ideal for both business customers and tourists, who can take advantage of Ryanair’s “Always Getting Better” programme. This includes more new routes, new mobile and internet applications, as well as improved cabin interiors for passengers and more low fares on offer.

People have been able to fly from Mošnov to London with Ryanair since 2013. The regular route, with a load factor of about 90%, is in high demand, and passenger numbers have increased every year. We hope the new route to Milan is as successful as the flights to London,” said Pavel Schneider, Director of Leoš Janáček Airport Ostrava.

Ryanair’s Ostrava winter 2016 schedule will include:

  • 1 new route to Milan – Bergamo (2 weekly)
  • More flights to London Stansted (4 weekly)
  • 6 weekly flights (+100%)
  • 90,000 customers p.a. (+60%)
  • 65* “on-site” jobs p.a.

* The ACI Research agency confirms that up to 750 “on-site” jobs are sustained at international airports for every million passengers.
