The Governor receives the Palestinian ambassador

On Tuesday, 25 July 2017, Ivo Vondrák, Governor of the Moravian and Silesian Region, received J. E. Khaled Alattrash, Ambassador of the State of Palestine in the Czech Republic.

The Ambassador’s first official meeting to the Moravian and Silesian Region and Ostrava aimed at establishing bilateral relationships between Palestine and the Moravian and Silesian Region. The ambassador summed up the history of the State of Palestine in a friendly dialogue and pointed out areas of potential cooperation, particularly in tourism, education, and imports of Czech industrial equipment.

Governor Vondrák thanked the Ambassador for his interest in our region and expressed appreciation of ideas in areas of cooperation. He highlighted the changing industrial structure of our region and emphasised that our universities were ready to cooperate.

“Studying at our universities could certainly be interesting for Palestinian students. I understand that young people’s study abroad is mainly associated with education in technical fields including dynamically developing specialisations, such as mechatronics, nanotechnologies, biomedicine, and IT. During our meeting, the ambassador informed me that he will be meeting the Ministers of Trade and Tourism in Spain next week, and expressed his interest in organising a visit to our region for one of the Ministers,” said Governor Vondrák about his views on the discussions.
