Passengers will be able to fly direct to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates from Leoš Janáček Airport Ostrava in Mošnov.

Passengers will be able to fly direct to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates from Leoš Janáček Airport Ostrava in Mošnov.

The SmartWings airline will commence new regular flights for the first time on 23rd September.

SmartWings will operate flights twice a week, every Tuesday and Friday. The airline will use modern Boeing 737 planes for the Ostrava – Dubai route.

“We will offer very attractive air ticket prices and also great flight schedules. Departure from Ostrava is planned at 10 a.m. with arrival in Dubai at 5:45 p.m. The plane will leave from Dubai at 6:45 p.m. and arrive in Ostrava at 11:05 p.m.,“ said Radek Müller, Head of SmartWings. He added that interest in travelling to the United Arab Emirates continues to grow. “SmartWings has been flying daily to Dubai from Prague for nine years now. Air tickets for the new flights from Ostrava can be purchased now at www.smartwings.com and from all authorised sellers,” Radek Müller continued.

“Dubai has been planned as a destination for a long time and a flight connection to this exotic location was one of the most asked-for by passengers. Dubai is one of the most popular destinations in the world, chiefly because it is modern and has a number of desirable qualities. We are also continuing our activities in relation to other airlines, with the goal of expanding the portfolio of destinations that can be reached from Ostrava,“ said Pavel Schneider, Managing Director of Leoš Janáček Airport Ostrava.

“We are convinced that the new flight connection to Dubai will be welcomed by tourists seeking “safe” destinations, and also by entrepreneurs. The region will become more accessible as a result of the new flights – we are opening up to the world. Development of this sphere is a priority for the Moravian-Silesian Region, particularly with regard to its close links to the Mošnov Industrial Zone. It is an important point on the flight map, while its parameters, facilities and location also make it a suitable candidate for air cargo,“ said Miroslav Novák, President of the Moravian-Silesian Region.

Using the summer flight schedule it will be possible to fly to thirteen destinations with SmartWings from Leoš Janáček Airport Ostrava in Mošnov: Heraklion, Rhodes, Corfu, Zakynthos, Kos, Kavala, Thessaloniki, Santorini, Palma de Mallorca, Burgas, Antalya, Paris, and also Dubai from the end of September.

Passengers travelling from this airport also have the option of regular direct flights to London and Düsseldorf all year round. Representatives of the Moravian-Silesian Region, which the Mošnov airport is located in, are currently working to ensure that regular direct flights will also start to the capitals of Finland and Holland.

“We need flight connections to these regions. Their economy focuses on exactly those sectors that are pivotal for the further economic development of the Moravian-Silesian Region. This particularly concerns IT technology and services, logistics and light engineering. Amsterdam is also an exceptionally important international transport node and a connection to Amsterdam would improve the region’s accessibility significantly,” Regional President Miroslav Novák explained.
