The Church of St. Benedict in Krnov

The revealed wall paintings document several stages of the medieval decoration from the 1st half of the 13th century to the 1st half of the 15th century. Of the Roman period it is a monumental Christ Pantocrator surrounded by symbols of Evangelists and a bend with the scenes from Christ´s childhood. On the sides of the nimbus there are fragments of the late Gothic decorations with the crowds of apostles with engraved halos and an angle with a cross and the crown of thorns. There is also the Coronation of Virgin Mary by the Holy Trinity, the Transfiguration on Tábor hill, the figures of the church fathers St. Gregory and St. Jerome, St. Augustine and St. Ambrose and the symbols of Evangelists.
