The Native House of J. G. Mendel in Hynčice

This is how “Mendelism“ was born and in 1909 also the term “gene” which was enforced for marking “hereditary elements”. In 1920, it was discovered that most traits are governed by tens of genes. The resulting trait originates in the composition of the effect of individual genes – therefore, there is an apparent mixing and dissolution of properties. In the beginning Mendelism seemed to be contradictory to Darwinism because the trait types either can or cannot form necessary deviances which are coordinated by the natural selection. The discovery of mutations and other knowledge, however, supported Darwinism and genetics became the theory of neo-Darwinism.
